Z Launcher is a comprehensive and intuitive Android launcher from Nokia. This app simplifies the way you access all your applications by offering a user-friendly interface that adapts to your usage habits.

Efficiency and Intuition

Z Launcher's main screen displays a cascading menu of your most frequently utilized apps, providing immediate access with just a single click. This efficient layout eliminates time spent scrolling through numerous apps, enhancing your user experience. The launcher is designed to predict and adapt to your app usage patterns, growing more intuitive the more you use it.

Handwriting Recognition Feature

The key feature that sets Z Launcher apart from other Android launchers is its unique handwriting recognition system. Simply draw a letter on your screen with your finger, and Z Launcher springs into action, filtering and presenting apps, contacts, and even frequently visited websites that start with that letter. This feature not only speeds up the app search process but also adds a level of personalization.

Additional Features

Potentially dangerous permissions

  • ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION: Allows an app to access precise location. Alternatively, you might want ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION.
  • CALL_PHONE: Allows an application to initiate a phone call without going through the Dialer user interface for the user to confirm the call.
  • GET_ACCOUNTS: Allows access to the list of accounts in the Accounts Service.
  • READ_CALENDAR: Allows an application to read the user's calendar data.
  • READ_CALL_LOG: Allows an application to read the user's call log.
  • READ_CONTACTS: Allows an application to read the user's contacts data.
  • READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE: Allows an application to read from external storage.
  • READ_PHONE_STATE: Allows read only access to phone state, including the phone number of the device, current cellular network information, the status of any ongoing calls, and a list of any PhoneAccounts registered on the device.
  • READ_SMS: Allows an application to read SMS messages.
  • WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE: Allows an application to write to external storage.

Other permissions

  • ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: Allows applications to access information about networks.
  • ACCESS_WIFI_STATE: Allows applications to access information about Wi-Fi networks.
  • BIND_APPWIDGET: Allows an application to tell the AppWidget service which application can access AppWidget's data. The normal user flow is that a user picks an AppWidget to go into a particular host, thereby giving that host application access to the private data from the AppWidget app. An application that has this permission should honor that contract.
  • GET_TASKS: This constant was deprecated in API level 21. No longer enforced.
  • GLOBAL_SEARCH: This permission can be used on content providers to allow the global search system to access their data. Typically it used when the provider has some permissions protecting it (which global search would not be expected to hold), and added as a read-only permission to the path in the provider where global search queries are performed. This permission can not be held by regular applications; it is used by applications to protect themselves from everyone else besides global search.
  • INTERNET: Allows applications to open network sockets.
  • RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED: Allows an application to receive the ACTION_BOOT_COMPLETED that is broadcast after the system finishes booting. If you don't request this permission, you will not receive the broadcast at that time. Though holding this permission does not have any security implications, it can have a negative impact on the user experience by increasing the amount of time it takes the system to start and allowing applications to have themselves running without the user being aware of them. As such, you must explicitly declare your use of this facility to make that visible to the user.
  • SET_ALARM: Allows an application to broadcast an Intent to set an alarm for the user.
  • SET_WALLPAPER: Allows applications to set the wallpaper.
  • WAKE_LOCK: Allows using PowerManager WakeLocks to keep processor from sleeping or screen from dimming.
  • WRITE_SETTINGS: Allows an application to read or write the system settings.
  • WRITE_SYNC_SETTINGS: Allows applications to write the sync settings.
  • android.permission.ACCESS_WEATHERCLOCK_PROVIDER
  • android.permission.AUTHENTICATE_ACCOUNTS
  • android.permission.INTERACT_ACROSS_USERS
  • android.permission.INTERACT_ACROSS_USERS_FULL
  • android.permission.MANAGE_ACCOUNTS
  • android.permission.MANAGE_USERS
  • android.permission.READ_HISTORY_BOOKMARKS
  • android.permission.READ_MMS
  • android.permission.USE_CREDENTIALS
  • com.android.browser.permission.READ_HISTORY_BOOKMARKS
  • com.android.launcher.permission.READ_SETTINGS
  • com.android.launcher3.permission.READ_SETTINGS
  • com.google.android.gm.permission.READ_CONTENT_PROVIDER
  • com.google.android.launcher.permission.READ_SETTINGS
  • com.htc.launcher.permission.READ_SETTINGS
  • com.nokia.z.ACCESS_Z_LAUNCHER
  • com.sec.android.provider.badge.permission.READ
  • com.sec.android.provider.badge.permission.WRITE
  • com.zte.appwidget.contact.permission.READ_SETTINGS
